Doctor of Philosophy in Advanced Educational Studies - Special Education (Online)

Liberty’s 100% online Ph.D. in Advanced Educational Studies – Special Education is designed to provide Ed.D. graduates an accelerated pathway to complete a Ph.D. dissertation track. This program allows students to transfer in up to two-thirds of the degree total in order to complete just 21 credit hours of specialized research and dissertation writing content based on a topic in their existing experience and expertise in special education. Or, students may instead choose to gain a new area of expertise by pursuing an area of study outside of their previous Ed.D. focus with the Special Education track while still transferring in core content from their Ed.D coursework. The Special Education specialization trains education professionals in advanced tools for assessing, evaluating, and instructing special needs students while developing and improving special education programs. This degree is an excellent choice for students who have an Ed.D., but find that they require a Ph.D. dissertation to further their careers. Graduates of the Ph.D. in Advanced Educational Studies – Special Education can be well-prepared for roles as special education consultants, special education researchers, K-12 special education directors, higher education instructors, and special education curriculum developers.
