Master of Arts in Teaching - Special Education - General Curriculum (45 hr.) with CTE: Transition (Online)

Liberty University’s 100% online Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) in Special Education – General Curriculum 45-Hour track allows students to pair licensed special education training with the required skills needed for an additional grade-level licensure area. Students in the M.A.T. in Special Education – General Curriculum 45-Hour will engage in advanced special education studies, in-class experience in a local school, and can optionally attend on-campus intensives to gain hands-on training and critical teaching knowledge. Through this program, students will study essential advanced topics such as educational behavior and development, theories and methods in teaching, current trends in education, and assessment and care methods for students with significant disabilities. Students will complete the necessary practicum and student teaching requirements for in-class training that will fulfill licensure requirements for special education and an additional focus in elementary, middle grades, or secondary education for the Virginia Department of Education. After obtaining licensure, students can apply for reciprocity in other states by meeting any additional steps for those states. The M.A.T. in Special Education – General Curriculum 45-Hour prepares students for teaching roles such as K-12 curriculum manager, licensed special education teachers, special education program coordinators, teaching product developers, and tutors.
